Through New Eyes
© Jamie Soles October 1990
I don't worry 'bout my life tomorrow
I am held within the Savior's hand
And no calamity will ever move me
I have seen the promised land
Round about me every wind that's blowing
Cries in vain for me to move
my feet
But I am anchored to the shores of glory
I won't go back I'm free
I am seeing as a new creation
All
the colors in a different light
My eyes are blinking in the wake of wonder
Captivated by the sight
Of the growing of a glorious kingdom
Heaven ruling over earth and sky
Till the day when every knee will bow
In praise of God Most High
I hear creation groaning
I watch His plans unfold
When He has tried me
I will
come forth as gold
And though His Spirit leads me
In paths I do not know
I see them through new eyes
And I will gladly go
I hear creation groaning....
I don't worry 'bout my life tomorrow....
Anything in Life
© Jamie Soles September 1995
I recall our early days when wonder reigned supreme
You were so classy and I was so poor
But heaven unfolded
a dream
You blew into my life on a Japanese bike
With your hair flying wild in the wind
The bike has moved
on but the girl has moved in
And she's promised to stay till the end
And the poor boy
Suddenly grew richer
by far
Five children later, nine blessed years
The dream takes its shape in our home
The kingdom of heaven
Is filling our earth with the fragrance of life
And all of the pleasures that money can buy
Are but
cheap imitations of grace
Between you and the Lord
And this peace in my heart
This poor boy is wealthy
With a smile on his face
We have everything
That means anything in life
We have everything
That
means anything in life
And though my frailty often keeps me
From knowing what I've got
Now and then
I see things clearly enough
When I gave you that ring
I was told it wouldn't rust
May the love we have
outlive us
When we both return to dust
We have everything....
Close Your Eyes (Timbrel's Lullabye)
© Jamie Soles January 1993
Close your eyes, rest awhile
Cover the night from the light of your smile
Drift away, tomorrow's a new day
It will wait for you
The sun is gone, the moon is high
Stars are awake and alive in the sky
Fade to grey,
tomorrow's a new day
It will wait for you
It surely will wait for you
Clouds overtake you but I won't forsake
you
You will be safe and warm tonight
And though your bed may seem so cold
You have a bear and a dolly
to hold
Snuggle in with blankets to your chin till the morning
Say your prayers and know they will come true
The Lord sends His angels to watch over you
Have no fear, He holds you very dear
He will comfort you,
He surely will comfort you
Angels descending, Timbrel defending
You can breathe easy, love, tonight
Tonight
Close your eyes...
Close your eyes...
Arrows (Psalm 127)
© Jamie Soles April 1996
Do you want to see the kingdom of heaven grow
Do you want to see the gospel go
To the ends of the earth
from the heart of your home
You better pay attention
Make sure you've got your arrows sharp and straight
and true
They are your heritage, your heritage
The blessing of the Lord
In the hands of a godly man of war
Make sure you aim them well
Don't let anyone steal them from you
Make sure, be sure, make sure you have enough
Unless the Lord builds your house
He declares that you labor in vain
Unless the Lord builds your house
He declares that you labor in vain
Unless the Lord guards your city
You watch and wait for nothing
Unless the Lord guards this place
Do you want to make a difference
Don't you want to see the Law of God prevail
When men and nations fail, don't you?
You better pay attention
Make sure you've got your quiver full
of ready weapons
They are your heritage, your heritage
The blessing of the Lord
In the hands of a godly
man of war
Make sure you aim them well
Don't let anyone steal them from you
Make sure, be sure, make sure
you have enough
Unless the Lord builds the house....
It is vain for you to rise up early
It is vain for you to sit up late
What a pain for you to eat the bread of sorrow
What a drain on you to carry such a weight
Unless the
Lord builds your house
Unless the Lord builds your house...
Unless the Lord builds the house....
River (Ezekiel 47.1-12)
© Jamie Soles September 1992
I stood at the door of the temple in water ankle deep
It flowed out into a desert land and headed for the
east
A surveyman he beckoned me and he bid me come and see
He said "Son of man, have you seen these
things?"
So I went with the man with the line in his hand
Through water to my knees
It flowed through
a rough and broken land
on its journey to the sea
A surveyman he beckoned me and he bid me come and
see
He said "Son of man, have you seen these things?"
Everywhere the river goes the fishing's good
my friend
And where the healing waters flow the dead will live again
Once again we measured with water
to my waist
And I watched the transformation of a former barren waste
For the trees of life were growing
on the living water's shores
And their leaves reached for the ends of the earth
One more time he measured
but I could not go with him
It had grown too deep for me to cross
and too far for me to swim
And the
mighty healing river, as it flowed into the sea
Took the water which was bitter and transformed it
into sweet
And the water is for the healing of the nations
And everything that moves in it will live
And the trees upon the shore will bear fruit forevermore
For their water flows from under the throne
Yes their water flows from under the throne of God
How Long, Oh Lord
© Jamie Soles August 1992
How long oh Lord will you remain silent
Your enemies mock your name all the day long
For evil ascends and
the righteous are shaken
And feeling forsaken of You for so long
How long oh Lord will wickedness prosper
It flows from the thrones to the depths of the sea
And we, oh Lord, Your children of promise
Are covered
with shame and cast out in the street
How long
How long
How long
How long
How long oh Lord will You
make us wander
How long will You harden our hearts from Your fear
Arise oh Lord awake from Your slumber
Remind us again of the God who is near
How long oh Lord till You rend the heavens
And pour out the
fire that consumes all the dross
And make of Your church the praise of the nations
And bring every
man to the foot of the cross
May You be found true
May You be found true oh Lord
May You be found true
May
You be found true
Though every man be a liar Lord may You be found true
The Palm of My Hands (Isaiah 49.14-16)
© Jamie Soles February 1996
Does it seem to you that I do not care
That I have so many hats to wear
That My time is precious and you
don't dare to impose
Does it seem to you I have turned away
And have cast your case behind Me
And have left
you there in the desert bare
With no thought of you that is kindly
Does it seem to you
That I have forsaken
you
That I have forgotten you
Does it seem to you?
Can a woman forget the son she has borne
Will she
not have compassion on her very own?
Though she might forget
I will not forget
Look upon Me; see these
wounds
You are inscribed upon the palm of My hands
I will never forget
Can a woman forget the son she
has borne
Will she not have compassion on her very own?
Though she might forget I will not forget
Look
upon Me; see these wounds
You are inscribed upon the palm of My hands
I will never forget
I will never
forget
If I Were A Father (Luke 15.11-24)
© Jamie Soles February 1996
If I were a father and you were my son
And you'd had your fill of my home
I think I'd think twice about
letting you go
And leaving your father to carry the load
Bearing the hurt of a man you cared not to know
If you took your portion and you took your leave
And got on a plane going somewhere
I think I would worry,
I think I would care
That my reputation would follow you there
My name would be ruined and you would
not care
If I were your father and you, you were my heir
On and on and on the world goes on without you
Seasons
come and seasons go
And you don't come and I don't know
I don't know
If I were a father and you were
my son
I wouldn't be watching and waiting
And if I should see you come round the bend
I'd hope for
a lot of explaining
If I were your father and you were my son
You'd stay in the rags that you're wearing
No shoes for your feet, no hat for your head
No ready embrace to be sharing
If I were your father and
you were my son
Forget the idea of a party
I'd take you out back to the caretaker's shack
And treat you as
no longer worthy
If I were your father and you were my son
And you did to me all the things I have done
I
shudder to think of what should have become
But You are the Father and I, I am the son
You are the
Father and I, I am the son
Love of the Lord (Romans 8.35-39)
© Jamie Soles October 1994
Who shall separate us from the love of the Lord
Trial, tribulation, peril, famine, or sword
Though for
His sake we face death every day
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors
Through Him who loved
us
Who shall separate us from the love of the Lord
Trial, tribulation, peril, famine, or sword
Though for
His sake we face death every day
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors
Through Him who
loved us
For I am persuaded neither death nor life
Angels or powers or demons of night
Nor things in the
present or things yet to come
Neither height nor depth or any other thing
Shall be able to part us
from the love of God in Christ
I am persuaded neither death nor life
Angels or powers or demons of night
Nor things in the present or things yet to come
Neither height nor depth or any other thing
Shall be
able to part us from the love of God in Christ
God Saves Sinners (1 Timothy 1.15)
© Jamie Soles February 1997
I know a man as proud as he could be
He doesn't like to think that he could ever ever be
A poor and needy
sinner; he says he's not so bad
He hopes that all the good he does will overcome the bad
But he's never gonna
make it
He's got too far to go!
He's really going backwards
and I think that he should know that...
God saves sinners and that's a big relief
God saves sinners of whom I am the chief
If I say I'm not a sinner
I will surely come to grief
'Cause God saves sinners of whom I am the chief
I used to be unholy, I
used to be profane
I used to be a liar who would love to sin again
But Jesus showed me mercy, His grace
to me was great
He took my sin upon himself and now I celebrate! 'cause..
God saves sinners....
Let Me Rise (based on Deuteronomy 6.4-9)
© Jamie Soles July 1996
You command to love the Lord with all my heart
You demand to love the Lord with all my soul
You require
that I should love You
With all my strength and mind
For You are the only Lord
You alone should be adored
Your command, spoken once, always applies
You desire it ever be before my eyes
I should bind it as a sign
Upon my hand and on my mind
On the doorpost of my house
May it bring You to my mind
Let me rise
in Your presence
Let me walk in Your Spirit
Let me worship at the closing of the day
When I come and
when I go
It is You that I must know
Write Your face upon my heart today
Let me rise in Your presence....
How Deep (Romans 11.33-36)
© Jamies Soles January 1996
How deep is the riches of Your wisdom
How deep and rich is Your knowledge oh God
And how unsearchable the
judgments You make
And Your ways past finding out
How deep is the mercy found in Jesus
Who takes away the
sins I have done
Who makes His covenant that surely will stand
With His undeserving ones
Who has known Your
mind, Lord
Or who has been Your counsel
To whom do You owe anything
For of You are all things
And through You all things come to pass
And to You all things render service
To You be the glory forever
Amen
He Will Come (1 Corinthians 15.20-28)
© Jamie Soles September 1994
The day will come
It will surely come at the end
When the Lord will come
When the Son will deliver the kingdom
to God
When He puts an end to all rule
All authority and power subdued
He will come
The day will come
It
will surely come at the end
When the Lord will come
When the Son will deliver the kingdom to God
When
He puts an end to all rule
All authority and power subdued
He will come
For He must reign
Till He
puts all His enemies down
In those days
Death will be the last one found
At the end
When our bodies
will rise from the ground
Death will end
And the glory of God will abound
The day will come....
For He must reign....
Come Behold (Psalm 46.8-11)
© Jamie Soles July 1994
Come behold the working of the Lord
(Come behold the working of the Lord)
Who has brought destruction
on the earth
(Who has brought destruction on the earth)
He makes wars to cease to the ends of the earth
(He makes wars to cease to the ends of the earth)
He breaks the bow and spear and the chariot burns
(He breaks the bow and spear and the chariot burns)
Be still and know that I am God
( I will be exalted
in the nations)
Be still and know that I am God
( I will be exalted in the earth)
Be still and know
that I am God
(The Lord of Hosts is with us)
Be still and know that I am God
(The God of Jacob is our
hiding place)
Psalm 83
© Jamie Soles October 1993
Do not keep silent oh God
Do not hold Your peace
Do not be still oh God
Behold Your enemies
For those who
hate You
Lift their heads against Your Son
And confederate against Your sheltered ones
They would cut us
off forever
And remember us no more
Do to them as You have done before
And pursue them with Your tempest
And frighten them with Your storm
Fill their faces with shame
That they may seek Your name oh Lord
May they be turned back forever
May they be put to shame and die
That men might know that You alone are Lord
The Most High over all the earth
No Other Gods (Exodus 20.1-17)
© Jamie Soles March 1992
You oh Lord are the Lord my God I will have no other gods
You've delivered me from slavery
and have loosened
all my bonds
I will not set up an idol, I won't have one in Your sight
I will not bow down and serve them
for Your law is my delight
And You oh Lord are the Lord my God I will have no other gods
I will guard my
tongue with Your name oh Lord
I will guard my speech in You
I will recognize Your sovereignty in all
I say and do
I will keep Your sabbath holy, I will find my rest in You
For in six days You created all
And
I want to be like You
For You oh Lord are the Lord my God I will have no other gods
I will honor both my
parents Lord
That Your promise may be lived
I will keep my heart from murder Lord
Wont You teach me
to forgive
And I covenant with You oh Lord
Not to cheat or steal or lie
And to keep my soul from coveting
For the soul that sins will die
But You oh Lord are the Lord my God
I will have no other gods
You oh Lord
are the Lord my God I will have no other gods
You oh Lord are the Lord my God I will have no other
gods
You oh Lord are the Lord my God I will have no other gods
